What is VidiMonkey?
VidiMonkey is a free experimental tool to help you save your favourite videos from any of the popular Internet Video sites. VidiMonkey not only makes it simple to save and download your videos, but also make it possible to get a bulk amount of these videos all in one go. You can set up a batch download of videos from various video hosts and get the links to download them all at once, rather then having to tediously enter them in manually. VidiMonkey is free for as long as we can run it, and we'll continue adding and expanding it as you use it.

What hosts do you support?

In honesty, it doesn't make much sense to list all the sites supported as they will continue to expand and shrink as video sites open and close. If in doubt, just enter a url, if it comes up with an error - chances are that it's not supported. If it spits out a download link - then you know it's supported.

How do I use VidiMonkey?
It's so simple a monkey could do it - infact it does!

1. Just go to a popular video site of your choice, and if theirs a video that you like and want to keep - just copy the url to the video (permalink)
2. Visit VidiMonkey and paste the address in the textbox.
3. Click Download and after a few seconds you're video will be shown to you with details on the video.
4. You can now click on Save to download and save the file to your computer, or you can view the file by clicking the view button.

I received an error message, why won't it work?
There are many reasons that you may experience an error - the most likely being that the address you entered was not proper. You most likely have a different version of the video address then what is necessary, which will causing VidiMonkey to get confused and not be able to get your video. To solve this, use the link that each video host provides you with to link to that particular video. Or edit your video url to match the proper format for that host's urls.

How do I watch the videos once I download them?
The videos that you download will most likely be in flv format, which is a flash video file. You can either play the flash video file using an FLV player, or you can convert the file to a format of your choosing. This is the simplest way to directly watch videos saved using VidiMonkey. There are many free software programs available to let you watch these saved videos offline and a few of these programs include FLV Player (Windows) Wimpy Desktop Player (Windows, OSx) or VLC Player (Windows, OSx, Linux). You can install these programs and being watching your video right away..
